Rope Access Installation on Twin High-Rise Towers
Commercial
Lower Mainland, BC, Canada
Commercial
December 2022 – Late 2024
The Hybrid Access team successfully installed more than 700 zero-carbon footprint concrete fins across two high-rise buildings in the Lower Mainland. The scale and complexity of this project required exceptional planning and coordination. Because the work took place at significant elevation along the building façades, experienced height workers and specialized rope access systems were essential to completing the installation safely.
Each fin had to be positioned with extreme accuracy to align with the architectural design of the towers. By using rope access, Hybrid’s height workers were able to maneuver efficiently along the structure, guiding each component into its final location while maintaining constant communication with the teams operating below.
Precision Rigging and Coordination at Height
To achieve the precise alignment required for the project, every fin was connected to a remote-operated counterweight balancing system. This innovative setup allowed the installation team to make fine lateral adjustments while the fins were suspended in the air. Skilled height workers used rope access to stabilize and guide each piece as it was flown into position.
Close coordination between the rope access technicians, crane operators, and ground crews ensured the process ran smoothly. As each fin was lifted, the height workers carefully controlled its movement while monitoring clearances and alignment. This collaborative approach allowed the team to safely install hundreds of large architectural elements across the two towers.
Rope Access Remediation and Structural Repairs
After the initial installation was completed, Hybrid Access was brought back to address manufacturing defects affecting the entire set of fins. More than 700 components required remediation work, creating a significant follow-up project across the building façades. Once again, rope access systems allowed height workers to reach every fin efficiently.
The remediation scope included crack chasing, chipping damaged areas, replacing material where necessary, and repainting each fin. Because the fins had originally arrived with only a base coat, the team also completed finishing work to restore their appearance. Through the expertise of skilled height workers using rope access, the entire system of architectural fins was successfully repaired and refined.
About Rope Access Installation for Complex Structures
Rope access installation is a specialized service used to install equipment, structural components, and architectural elements in locations that are difficult to reach with conventional access systems. Technicians use certified rope systems to safely position themselves on vertical or elevated structures, allowing installation work to be completed with precision and control.
This method is widely used for installing lighting systems, signage, mechanical components, safety equipment, and architectural features on buildings, towers, and industrial infrastructure. Because technicians can move efficiently across a structure, rope access installation often allows work to proceed without major interruptions to the surrounding environment.
With proper planning, anchor systems, and trained technicians, rope access installation provides a safe and reliable way to complete specialized work at height while maintaining strict safety standards.
Why Rope Access?
Many structures present access challenges that make traditional equipment difficult to use. Scaffolding, cranes, or large lifts may require extensive setup, take up valuable space, or interfere with normal building operations.
Rope access offers a more flexible solution. Technicians can quickly reach elevated or complex areas of a structure while using minimal equipment. This allows installation tasks to be completed efficiently while maintaining precise control over materials and components.
For projects that require work at height or within complex architectural environments, Hybrid Access Inc. provides experienced rope access technicians and advanced safety systems. Their expertise ensures installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.
